*Expanded Learning Time:  Making Every Minute Matter*

Grades 6-11; 350 students

Mission: to utilize rigorous curriculum, extended academic time, and a range of supports for children and families to prepare 6-12 grade students to succeed in college. An environment structured around scholarship and personal growth will cultivate students’ virtues of courage, compassion, integrity, perseverance, and respect.

BPCPS is guided by two principles:

• All students can learn and accomplish at the highest levels

• Schools should support students’ ethical development

BPCPS, a 2009 EPIC award winner, features:

• Professional Development Model*

• An array of inclusive student support services

• A professional learning community where teachers engage in critical dialogue about teaching and learning

• Weekly 1:1 instructional meetings between school leaders and class room teachers

*Study Tour will include an in-depth examination of this asset

Substitute reimbursement is available to district schools that send teachers.  Please send teams of two to five educators.

This spring, three schools will offer FREE full-day study tours focused on Expanded Learning Time (ELT).  Schools interested in improving their practices around enrichment, academics or instructional improvement should attend.

Each study-tour will feature:

    * A school overview
    * An examination of benefits, challenges, and successes of ELT
    * A school-specific workshop focused on a key ELT practice
    * Dialogue with school leaders, staff and collaborators
    * Networking with other participants
    * Action planning
